State elects first Dem attorney general
SCRANTON -- Kathleen Kane will become Pennsylvania's first Democrat and first woman elected attorney general, defeating Republican David Freed.
The Associated Press called the race for Ms. Kane, a former Lackawanna County assistant district attorney around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
She is expected to address her election night gathering at the Radisson hotel in downtown Scranton shortly.
Democratic state Treasurer Rob McCord also was elected to a second term, defeating Republican Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey Vaughan.
