Breakfast Sausage: 5 stories to read this morning

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Good morning. It's more or less a holiday for most people this Friday, July 5, but in the off chance a couple Fireworkspeople are working on Grant or Front streets today . . .

1. East End residents protested police behavior yesterday outside the always-busy Zone 5 police station in East Liberty. Police/resident relations sure is going to be interesting for the next Pittsburgh mayor.

2. Pittsburgh's quasi-independent water-sewer agency is rebounding from scandal, etc., with the help of outside management firm.

3. Dave Farley, a longtime city administrator over federal anti-crime funding, died Monday from brain cancer. He was 66. Tom Murphy and Joe Mistick have some nice things to say about him.

4. No surprise from this desk, but Sean Hamill takes a sparse assignment (go cover the Regatta) and turns it into chicken salad.

5. Reminder to Long Island vacationers: Don't be a D-bag. Or else.
