Aichele's out

Published by James O'Toole on .

The Inky's Angela Couloumbis tweets the scoop that Steve Aichele is out as chief of staff in the embattled administration of Gov. Tom Corbett.

The Inquirer ace hears that Leslie Gromis Baker, former campaign manager and senior advisor to former Gov. Tom Ridge, is in line to replace him.  Aichele replaced Pittsburgh lawyer Bill Ward as COS after Mr. Corbett named Mr. Ward to an opening on Common Pleas Court in 2012.

Leslie Gromis-Baker has served in one high-powered GOP position after another in recent years.  She was Mr. Ridge's successful campaign manger in his two comfortable victories as governor.  She was mid-Atlantic regional chair of the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2000.  In addition to founding her own lobbying firm, LG Strategies, she worked with GOP media strategist John Brabender, on the web-based television series, "Moving Numbers.''

Early Returns sought more details from the Corbett press office but they didn't immediately get back to us.
