Good morning. Note to self: When writing all those Bill Peduto stories in near future, as of today he is 49.

1. The city's Public Safety director wants to implement a new way to handle private/off-duty hiring of police (including rules on not paying them in cash) but the FOP says: "Can't happen."

2. A survey says Pittsburghers are good at personal conservation measures (turning off lights, etc) but have less of a handle on big-ticket issues (such as the air they breathe).

3. Most eyes in DC today are on the House grilling of HHS Secretary Sebelius, but there's also a briefing on a proposed SEC rule requiring corporations to disclose political donations.

4. There are a record number of homeless schoolchildren in the country, including in Pa, where the number is up 7 percent. There are 2,500 homeless kids around Pittsburgh.

5. Wild days for Green Tree's Margot Bingham, an emerging star of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."
