1. Here's the event list at aforementioned PA Society, an annual ball for Pennsylvania politicians in New York that is sure to see plenty of positioning in advance of the 2014 gubernatorial race. 

2. Back at the farm, some Pittsburgh Public School board members are looking doubtfully at a proposal to bring Teach For America recruits into city schools. (A recent U.S. Dept. of Education study into TFA math teachers found their students performed slightly better than their peers.

3. Regional collection of income tax has given local municipalites a bottom-line boost, Len Barcousky reports. 

4. Allegheny County is moving closer to having a 2014 capital budget, which should make our editorial department happy
