Good Wednesday morning, and not a good one for President Obama.

That's the homepage at Drudge, top, showing the IBEW hall on the South Side at right. Many of those seats filled up but the gathering was rather subdued -- like a church at some points.

Or maybe a funeral? He made a hard pitch for his jobs bill (here's my story) but it still went down in flames in the Senate, where it may now be introduced piecemeal.

Here are the Pittsburgh pieces from Carol Lee at the Wall Street Journal and Helene Cooper at the New York Times.

At the Morning Call, Colby Itkowitz covers the speech and talks to people in Mt. Lebanon:

Mark Quealy, a 48-year-old administrator at the local parking authority and a registered Democrat, isn't sure if he'll support Obama in next year's election as he did before, but doesn't blame the president for the stagnant unemployment.

"I don't think anyone could have done anything to move the economy any quicker," Quealy said. "I think with the partisanship it's just completely incapacitated this whole government."
