Onorato outraises Corbett, still behind

Dan Onorato raised a bit more money than Tom Corbett over the last month, though his Republican opponent still has three times as much money.
Onorato raised $1.6 million during the May 4-June 7 reporting period, to Corbett's $1.4 million. But he faced a more difficult primary than the Shaler Republican, going into May with a bit more than $1 million in the bank, and spending more than $1.6 million, leaving him back where he started at $1 million chash in hand.
UPDATE: Nearly a third of Onorato's cash was from two sources: the Democratic Governor's Assoc. ($250K), and his own county executive campaign committee ($242K).
Corbett went into the second week in June with more than $3.3 million.
Onorato's spokesman Brian Herman released a statement saying:
Onorato raised $533,818 between May 4 and the May 18 Democratic Primary; and, $1,084,615 between May 19, and June 7.
In comparison to Tom Corbett:
- Onorato raised more than Corbett during the period, $1.61 million to Corbett's $1.4 million.
- In the first two weeks of the period, Onorato endured over $2 million in negative attack ads by his three Democratic opponents to win the primary with 45% of the vote, while Corbett faced a severely underfunded GOP challenger to win with 61% of the vote.
- Onorato began the period with about $1.096 million on hand and ended with$1.051 million, a $45,000 difference – essentially holding steady despite his competitive primary.
- Tom Corbett began the period with $3.774 million on hand and ended with $3.340 million on hand, a much greater net loss of $440,000.
