Rendell: Corbett tough to beat

Ed Rendell keeps expectations low for Dan Onorato and raises them for Tom Corbett, in remarks to Politico:

But Rendell said he believes Onorato still has a good shot at winning. His chances have improved because Corbett moved to the right “unnecessarily” in the primary, said Rendell.

“I thought when the year began, that Tom would be an extraordinarily tough candidate to beat. I still think he’ll be tough to beat because he was a moderate Republican with a friendly persona,” said Rendell. Corbett is also popular, he added, since he served as the chief prosecutor during the “bonusgate” scandal that resulted in jail terms for some lawmakers in the unpopular state legislature.
