Ravenstahl raises stakes

Published by Tim McNulty on .

We didn't see Luke Ravenstahl on stage at today's Steeler rally at the County Courthouse (above, MC'd by Dan Onorato), which leads us to two thoughts:

(1) Perhaps he was inside the Steely McBeam costume.

(2) Or maybe he was across the street working out today's ridiculously complicated bet with Baltimore's mayor.

Ravenstahl -- who takes Steelers-Ravens games seriously, as we know -- not only went in for the usual Primanti's vs. crabcakes bet, but is taking it a step further. And then another step.

From his office:

The two mayors have agreed to a three-tiered wager.  The Mayor of the losing team must send the other Mayor food that is unique to the city.  Mayor Ravenstahl agreed to send a tray of delicious sandwiches courtesy of Primanti Bros. Restaurant, Steelers-inspired Smiley cookies from Eat’n Park, and various other Pittsburgh-based goodies.

Mayor Rawlings-Blake agreed to send a tray of crab cakes from Faidley’s Seafood in Baltimore’s historic Lexington Market.

In addition to the food, the Mayor of the losing team must post a message to their Twitter and Facebook page stating, “(The Winning Team) are superior to the (Losing Team.)”  Also, the Mayor of the losing team will post a video to Youtube pronouncing winning team’s superiority while wearing the winning team’s jersey.

“I look forward to enjoying a delicious tray of crab cakes while watching the Steelers play in the AFC Championship game,” said Ravenstahl.
