McCullough trial now set for Sept
The on-again-off-again-on-again-off-again scheduling of the fraud trial of county exec candidate Chuck McCullough has been changed AGAIN, this time in order to hold it before the November general election.
On Friday Judge Donald Machen rescheduled the trial for November 14 -- causing uncertainty for local Republicans about their possible candidate (who faces D. Raja for the party nod on Tuesday). Today Machen reversed course and rescheduled the trial again, this time for September 1.
In email to the P-G McCullough said reading the story -- and geting a plea from the candidate -- helped change the judge's mind. "He apparently read a newspaper account and agreed with me that the date should be moved up. I am very appreciative of this because it will enable me to clear my name, a second time, well in advance of the election," his email said.
