Boyle to chair state HDCC

PoliticsPA.com reports this afternoon that Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Philadelphia, will be the new chairman of the state House Democratic Campaign Committee.

Boyle, who was first elected to the state House in 2008, will replace Rep. Mike Gerber, D-Montgomery, as head of the caucus recruiting and campaigning arm.

Gerber oversaw the committee during a rough election last year, in which the party lost 13 state House seats and turned the majority over to the GOP.

But, as PoliticsPA points out, one of the few bright spots in that election day was due to Boyle's brother Kevin, who ousted indicted long-time Rep. John Perzel.
