From PoliticsPa: Former coal industry exec and Indiana/Armstrong county tea party leader Tom Smith is making a big splash in his just-announced US Senate bid, by hiring on former Pat Toomey campaign manager Mark Harris.
Smith has signaled a willingness to self-fund a primary campaign, which could give him a step up over fellow Republican candidate Marc Scaringi, who raised only $20,000 in the second quarter.
Harris and partner Mike DeVanney are also working on D. Raja's Allegheny County executive campaign.
