Past, current LGs to cycle for charity

Published by Laura Olson on .

scarnati_cawleySenate President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati is bringing along a co-host on his third annual 100-mile bike ride fundraiser.

Scarnati, who served as both pro tempore and LG during the last few years of the Rendell administration, will be cycling from Gettysburg to the lieutenant governor's residence at Fort Indiantown Gap with current Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley and Mrs. Cawley.

During the past two years, participants in the bike ride have raised more than $200,000 for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. This year, the funds raised will be split between that hospital and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The ride kicks off Friday morning, wrapping up in Annville on Sunday.

This reporter won't be trailing along - though I would be curious to hear the conversation between the senator who has led the charge for a drilling impact fee and regulatory updates, and the administration official who expressed skepticism over the need for a fee or broad changes during his tenure chairing the Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission.
