Exec attack #36

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Today's daily dose of opp file from the Raja campaign concerns county spending on renovations to the county council chamber, where Democrat Rich Fitzgerald toiled for 12 years.

Full statement after the jump:

Day 36: Rich Fitzgerald's Reckless Spending. Fitzgerald Spent $100,000 to renovate County Council Chamber.

PITTSBURGH, PA -- NOTE: Over the next 36 days, the Raja campaign will be highlighting the trouble with Rich Fitzgerald's record and actions.

Question for Rich:

1. Was this a needed expense in difficult economic times?

2. How do you explain to a recently laid off county worker that this expense was needed?

Rich Fitzgerald authorized spending $100,000 to give County Council Chambers a face life (PTR 8/16/05)

"After laying off hundreds of employees, which according to Mr. Fitzgerald was for the county to 'live within our means.' (PPG 5/13/04)a year later he found $100,000 to renovate his meeting room. I guess a few of those worker's livelihoods were worth the new digs to Mr. Fitzgerald." – Raja Campaign Manager, James Genovese said.
