Daily Santorum: A Fan's Notes

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Rick Santorum is really into football apparently. He tweaked Rick Perry over his allegiance to Texas A&M in Iowa yesterday, and the National Journal caught him watching a college football stream on a tablet while Newt Gingrich spoke during the Iowa Faith & Freedom event on Saturday.

Not sure if he'' have time for the spellbinding Pitt v UConn matchup at Heinz tonight tomorrow however -- after leaving Iowa, he's back in South Carolina (Spartanburg to be exact).

And no wonder he's concentrating so hard on those early, conservative states -- his poll numbers nationally remain at the absolute bottom (at 1%) in the latest CBS poll, where Herman Cain leads at 25 to Mitt Romney's 21.

And since it seems we can't write about Santorum without mentioning gay issues, here's what he said on conservative preacher Bradlee Dean's radio show:

“This is not about gay marriage, it is about changing what is right and wrong and fundamentally changing what people of faith can say and do in society,” Santorum said on Dean’s radio show. “The ultimate objective here is to drive faith out of the public square, to drive morality out of the laws of this country, to secularize our society with a different set of values.”
