Daily Santorum: Rising up rankings

Rick Santorum

The biggest news out of the Rick Santorum campaign lately is his multi-state tour on moral issues, aka the Faith, Freedom and Family tour. From ABC News:

Executive orders Santorum favors include banning federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and restoring conscience clause protections for health care workers. If a pharmacist did not want to fill a prescription for, say, the morning-after pill he or she would not be required to do so. Santorum would also ban military chaplains from performing same sex ceremonies on military bases.

He picked up the endorsement of a major conservative figure in Iowa today, Chuck Laudner, and Hotline has even put Santorum 4th in their list of GOP power rankings, after Romney, Perry and Cain. Here's what they say:

Give Santorum an "A" for effort: He's now visited each of Iowa's 99 counties. And he continues to make his presence felt on the debate stage. Still, Santorum has never been able to engage his core audience in the way Mike Huckabee or Pat Robertson did. Santorum seems destined to be the candidate who never realized his full potential.

He'll get another chance to make debate waves Wednesday, when the next GOP forum is held near Detroit.
