Ravenstahl loses title

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Via Sally Kalson, Kit Seelye at the NYT reports there's a new title-holder for the nation's youngest mayor:

The youngest winner of the night may have been Alex Morse, a 22-year-old who defeated Elaine Pluta, 67, the incumbent mayor of Holyoke, Mass., in an election billed as a contest between old and new Holyoke.

Mr. Morse, who graduated from Brown University this year, campaigned on a platform of making the city a hub for high-tech jobs and opposed building one of the state’s newly legalized casinos in the city.

Ms. Pluta, who supported bringing a casino to town, spent 14 years on the City Council before becoming mayor.
