Ravenstahl budget intro'd

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl delivered his $467 million budget to city council today, with no layoffs or tax increases. From Joe Smydo:

Now that the city's debt is under control, he said, he's proposing a new $80 million borrowing for investments in paving, building maintenance, parks and recreation. He said these capital projects will build on the city's vibrancy while creating construction jobs.

Next year, Mr. Ravenstahl said, the city will continue its efforts to complete the financial recovery. The city has been under state oversight since 2004.

"Together, we have overcome many challenges and, in true Pittsburgh spirit, we've come out better for it," Mr. Ravenstahl said.
