Toomey brass denies Medicare eligibility reports

Published by Drew Singer on .

Sen. Pat Toomey's camp sent out a note to the press this morning denying reports (such as those from Bloomberg and CNN) that the Senator's plan would raise the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67.

"This is false. Sen. Toomey's plan does not touch the Medicare eligibility age," the email says.

The Supercommittee has until Nov. 23 to agree to a plan that cuts at least $1.5 trillion from the nation's deficit over the next decade, or else $1.2 trillion in automatic cuts – half from domestic spending, half from defense – will automatically trigger. Sen. Toomey crafted the proposal that Republicans on the committee hope will lead to a deal.
