Work on deficit-reduction committee gave Toomey TV face time
WASHINGTON -- Republican Sen. Pat Toomey made four appearances on Sunday national news shows this year, the most of any Pennsylvania lawmaker and more than all but 23 lawmakers, according to a tally in the Washington insider newspaper The Hill.
That includes appearances explaining the deficit-reducation committee's work and, untimately, the reasons for its failure.
A dozen other Republicans made more appearances including Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Sen. John McCain of Arizona who top the list with 19 appearances each.
Mr. Toomey appeared on Face the Nation, Meet the Press, This Week and Fox News Sunday, according to Roll Call's tally.
Pennsylvania Congressmen Jason Altmire, D-McCandless; Mike Kelly, R-Butler and Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, made one Sunday show appearance each.
