Another labor pickup for Critz
Speaking of the 12th District, Mark Critz has picked up another labor endorsement in his battle against fellow Democrat Jason Altmire, this time from the Westmoreland County Labor Council.
It follows a nod yesterday from the Johnstown-Somerset Regional Labor Council, and Altmire's endorsement Saturday from Westmoreland's Democratic committee.

The Greater Westmoreland Labor Council voted last night to recommend the endorsement of Congressman Mark Critz to the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. The recommendation comes on the heels of the Johnstown-Somerset Regional Labor Council’s unanimous vote to also recommend endorsement of Critz. Labor Council President Robert Lavely said the vote was a testament to Critz’s record of support for working men and women in western Pennsylvania.
“The Greater Westmoreland County Labor Council voted overwhelmingly to recommend the endorsement of Mark Critz because we know that he wakes up every day focusing on creating jobs and standing up for working men and women throughout western Pennsylvania,” Lavely said. “We know that workers can count on Mark Critz to stand up to the wealthy special interests in Washington and fight for the interests of working people.”
Critz continues to receive overwhelming support from a broad base of labor unions throughout western Pennsylvania because he has lead in Congress on issues important to job creation and protecting workers. He has led the fight in Congress on legislation to end China’s currency manipulation which puts American manufacturers at a disadvantage because Chinese goods can be sold at artificially low prices here.
“The support of the Greater Westmoreland County Labor Council shows that I am committed to creating jobs for western Pennsylvania and I won’t back down when it comes to leveling the playing field for American manufacturers,” Critz said. “Creating jobs and fighting on behalf of workers is my top priority in Congress and you can take it to the bank that I will never change.”
To date, Critz has been endorsed by the following organizations:
Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1279
International Association of Fire Fighters
Johnstown-Somerset Regional Labor Council
Laborers District Council of Western Pennsylvania
Service Employees International Union
United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23
United Mine Workers of America
United Steelworkers
United Transportation Union
Utility Workers Union of America
National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare
