Pa12 turnout battle

Published by Tim McNulty on .

The biggest race in the Pittsburgh area is the Democratic set-to between incumbents Jason Altmire and Mark Critz, wherein Altmire is saying regional turnout will be key.

Critz consultant Mike Mikus said turnout in Critz's homebase in Cambria county -- where their polling showed him up 88-4% over Altmire -- is running between 30-35% today, while the official expectation is 25% or less in Altmire's Allegheny County home base.

Altmire campaign manager Angela Ruslander said it's expected that the Critz camp would make that claim, and their volunteers are at work all over the district (which also includes parts of Beaver, Lawrence, Somerset and Westmoreland counties) on get-out-the-vote efforts.
