Great job, Harrisburg

Everybody is looking forward to Memorial Day -- especially our elected representatives in the state House and Senate, who are on vacation recess after Wednesday. In thanks to their public service, here are a couple links to consider:

While we're speaking of convicted members of Pennsylvania's august governing body, there is good news and bad news for former Speaker Bill DeWeese. He's out of jail after only a few days, but could be returning within a week. (Liz Navratil)

The same legislators (along with the Ridge/Schweiker administration) boosted their pension plan by 50% back in 2001, and boosted it for retirees the following year. This has led to an annual $37 billion pension funding gap. Great job everybody. "We have an iceburg right in front of us," says Gov. Tom Corbett. (Laura Olson)
