Altmire vote streak over

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Jason Altmire's voting streak -- which led him to go back to D.C. on election night, before losing to Mark Critz -- is over. J.D. Prose at the Beaver County Times has the story:

U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire was proud of his House voting streak, which quietly ended at 4,734 last month, but honoring a fallen local soldier came before his personal record.

As committed as he was to the streak, Altmire, D-4, McCandless Township, let it end so he could attend the May 16 Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House for former Ellwood City resident Sgt. Leslie H. Sabo Jr., who was killed in May 1970 in Cambodia during the Vietnam War.

“I always said I would miss a floor vote when the importance of the competing congressional obligation outweighs the importance of making the vote,” Altmire said. “This is clearly one of those times.”
