Dems pick for Pippy seat Tuesday

Democrats in Allegheny and Washington counties will meet Tuesday on Moon to pick their replacement candidate for John Pippy's former state Senate seat, who by all accounts will be state Rep. Matt Smith. He'll face Republican D. Raja in November.

The Allegheny and Washington County Democratic Committees will best holding a nomination vote to fill the ballot opening in the 37th State Senate district. All sitting Democratic committee and state committee members from the district are eligible and have the opportunity to nominate a candidate (by secret ballot) to be sent to the PA Democratic Party Executive Board for a final vote. Any candidate that wishes to receive the nomination is required to send a letter of intent no later than 5pm on Monday, July 16th.
