Specter attack mailers hit

Specter mailer

Specter mailer back

At Radical Middle, communications consultant Chad Hermann has the following critique of the Arlen Specter mailer he received (above):

I could point out plenty of things wrong with it from a communication perspective — the address box is on the front side, which should be free from distractions to set the tone and drive home the message; the design aesthetics wouldn’t pass muster at an elementary school art show; the back, which looks and feels like the front, is overcooked and over-crowded, sporting more (and more bad) fonts than a document created by a child using a word processor for the first time — and I could also note that the Post-Gazette quotation it so prominently features is both improperly sourced (it ran April 5th, not April 4th) and deliberately misleading (the passage, made to look like the PG’s own reporting, is actually the PG’s reporting of the Specter camp’s calculations).
