The mayor of Westwood

Published by Tim McNulty on .

WestwoodThe places Pittsburgh mayors live become part of their iconography -- Bob O'Connor's little house off bustling Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill; Tom Murphy's home on a tough stretch of Perrysville Avenue; Sophie Masloff's high-rise on Shady Ave.; Davey Lawrence's grand old house on Aiken Ave. in Bloomfield.

Which leads us to this nugget Rich Lord buried in his neighborhoods story today:

For instance, if someone wanted to move to, or within, the city, they could go to the website and check the boxes for quiet, relaxing, and "suburbs in the city." They'd see brief descriptions of Swisshelm Park, Bon Air and Westwood -- the last of those being the neighborhood to which Mr. Ravenstahl recently moved.

Westwood is in the west/southwest of the city, with Green Tree to its south and Crafton to the west. This makes Ravenstahl's the first south-of-the-rivers mayor in decades, or maybe ever, but we don't have a mayor's list handy. We're told the mayor's house (which he's renting) is a ranch-style house in a nondescript, quiet part of the neighborhood.
