At Corbett HQ
From Vivian Nereim
A humming yet calm crowd of about 70 people had gathered at the Omni William Penn hotel by 9 p.m. this evening to support Tom Corbett in the republican primary for the governor's race. They mostly ignored the numerous televisions around the room, chatting amongst themselves and raising glases of wine.(Miniature pizzas and platters of cheese remained untouched.)
Jane and Lewis Neubert, of Glenshaw, decked in red, white and blue, said they felt confident in their candidate.
Mrs. Neubert, 77, said she was a longtime supporter of Mr. Corbett. Wearing a gold elephant pendant and clutching an American flag- patterned purse, she said she was thrilled with the job Mr. Corbett had done as state Attorney General.
She said his opponent, Sam Rohrer, was persuasive, but had not persuaded her.
"He talks a good show, but when you start looking into his background, its not all the truth," she said.
"I'm a tough customer," she added, smiling.
