House vote next week on FMAP

Published by Daniel Malloy on .

After the Senate voted for cloture on the FMAP extension and education aid bill today -- with final approval likely tomorrow -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will take the highly unusual step of calling the House back into session next week. The lawmakers, who I'm sure are not particularly pleased by this turn of events, left D.C. for August recess last week.

In this newfangled media age, Pelosi announced this on Twitter, from the @SpeakerPelosi account:

"I will be calling the House back into session early next week to save teachers' jobs and help seniors & children #FMAP"
