Cleveland gears up for Obama

Published by Tim McNulty on .

From our neighbors to the northwest, here's the Plain Dealer on Obama's afternoon speech at the Cuyahoga Community College's Western Campus this afternoon. They also have a sidebar on the president's call for tax credits and new infrastructure investments:

Dan Berry, president of the Cleveland-based Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network, or MAGNET, a business advocacy group, had a generally positive reaction Tuesday.

"The permanent extension of the research and experimentation tax credit will be especially welcomed by manufacturers," said Berry.

Some of Northeast Ohio's largest corporations declined to comment Tuesday.

As proposed, the tax plan would allow corporations to write off 100 percent of any capital expenses - essentially construction projects begun before Jan. 1, 2012.
