Glass Houses

From the bad timing department comes this post from Ben Smith at Politico, noting John Raese is going before a Palm Beach city architecture committee (and not Rush Limbaugh's locker room) to get design approval for a new structure outside his Florida mansion. Read more in Smith's piece to get some negative neighbor reaction to the proposal.

Raese, whose lavish Florida home has been a favorite Democratic target, has applied to the board for permission to replace a giant six-foot by eight-foot dollhouse and replace it with a new fourteen-foot by fifteen-foot "glass conservatory."

Not that everything is going well for Dem opponent Joe Manchin either. There's another Politico story about the feds circling around the governor's office, pursuing investigations that should not be finished by next week, but are still weighing the candidate down a bit. Here's Shira Toeplitz:

A federal investigation into West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin’s administration has taken a disturbing turn for his Democratic supporters: agents reportedly have subpoenaed the director of the state Aviation Division, along with flight logs and records for official government aircraft.

The news comes just after federal prosecutors privately asked a judge to delay the sentencing of a contractor who got a no-bid contract to redecorate Manchin’s office. And the developments are set against an ongoing government probe reportedly involving state Democratic Party chairman Larry Puccio, Manchin’s former chief of staff.
