Strange bedfellows dept.
We talked the other day about Kathy Dahlkemper getting her centrist credentials in order in advance of November. Her Democratic neighbor to the south, Jason Altmire -- who doesn't do such things halfway -- does her one better, by announcing a news conference today with . . .
Joe Lieberman and Scott Brown.
From his DC office:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Scott Brown (R-MA) and Congressmen Jason Altmire (D-PA) and Charlie Dent (R-PA) will hold a press conference to introduce the Terrorist Expatriation Act on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 12:00pm in the Senate Radio-TV Gallery.
The Terrorist Expatriation Act would bring existing federal law up to date by adding another item to the list of acts for which a U.S. national would lose his/her nationality: providing material support or resources to a Foreign Terrorist Organization, as designated by the Secretary of State, or actively engaging in hostilities against the United States or its allies.
We'll get the details later, but we imagine Altmire and Dent have a say in this due to talk about Pa hosting terror trials, which is something Republicans are trying to nail Altmire on this year.
UPDATE: Here's an explainer on the bill from the WashPost. The early indications are it's not getting much traction with conservatives -- over at Hot Air, Allahpundit calls it "overkill."
And here's more from Dayvoe at 2 Political Junkies.
