WV Senate news tomorrow, maybe

Though the public memorial service was Friday, the funeral for Robert Byrd in Arlington, Va., is at 11 a.m. today. WVa Gov. Joe Manchin has said he will not address filling Byrd's seat until tomorrow, after the senator is buried, but the pressure is already mounting on him to move quickly.

We noted the impact of Byrd's absence on the stalled extention of unemployment benefits last week. The WVa Chamber of Commerce is calling on the state to hold a special election this fall to fill the seat, says the Charleston Gazette, and Politico reports labor and business leaders are calling on Manchin to appoint himself to the seat.
