Pgh Tea Party update

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Glenn Beck rallyOne of the issues faced with movements that are, by design, grassroots and decentralized is they don't have spokespeople on-call all hours of the day, especially in the leadup to holiday weekends.

We've received a lot of reaction to our post last week on the lack of Pittsburgh Tea Party events, including this update from Hampton's Mike McMullen, a Republican state committee member and member of the Pittsburgh Tea Party Planning Committee:

Local organizers chose not to do an event last weekend as the city was already too busy with the Three Rivers Regatta and a well-attended four-game Pirates/Phillies series. Instead the group is focusing on future events: a July 24 picnic at Blueberry Hill Community Park in Franklin Park; a bus trip to D.C. for Aug. 28's "Restoring Honor" rally by Glenn Beck; and other events in September and October.

Another note: Farewell to the Pittsburgh 9.12 Project's McKay Sailer, who has moved with her family to northern Virginia.
