Toomey goes on TV, and goes negative

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Pat Toomey's campaign is going on TV statewide tonight with six new ads -- we'll put the text of each (provided by the campaign) after the jump.

Link to video here.

Besides the simple earliness of the ad buy -- which puts him in further contrast to Joe Sestak, who was applauded for pouncing late in the Dem primary -- they also set a notably negative pace. The first spot (called "Generations") is a regular introductory ad, describing Toomey a "taxpayer hero" and featuring a cameo from his 9-year-old daughter. Another ("One Party") is also introductory, but the final four are focused on Joe Sestak, attacking him on spending, taxes, cap-and-trade and health care reform.

UPDATE: The health insurance ad ran on KDKA-TV during the 5 p.m. news.

Text of the six ads (all but one of them 15 seconds long) is below:

He’s been called a “taxpayer hero” who “puts principles ahead of party line obedience.”
Toomey’s taken on both parties when they waste tax dollars.
