Tim Murphy: $833K
Upper St. Clair Republican incumbent Tim Murphy has $833,859 in cash for his defense against Democrat Dan Connolly.
The 18th District congressman raised $216,778 during the latest reporting period and spent $105,960. Of his receipts, $156,500 came from PACs, including from (some usually Democratic-friendly) unions including the United Mine Workers, the Intl. Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Communications Workers of America and the Amalgamated Transit Union.
Why the relatively high spending? A good chunk went to help other GOP candidates: $30,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee on June 8, $10,000 to the Senate Republican Campaign Committee on April 29, and $4,000 to District 12 GOP candidate Tim Burns.
Connolly had $30,600 on-hand at the end of June.
