Altmire betrays workers: USW
The Steelworkers union is so angry at Jason Altmire for his promised vote against health care
reform that they're thinking about running Jack Shea, the head of the Allegheny County Labor Council, against him as a write-in in May or an independent in November.
From the story by Moriah Balingit:
"We're tired of listening to politicians like Jason Altmire promise that he's going to stand with us and stand with working families in his congressional district and then side with corporate interests and insurance companies and big hospitals," [Tim Waters, director of the USW's Rapid Response political arm] said Saturday. "Our families burned up a lot of shoe leather ... to get him in office because he promised us he was with us."
