New health care ad from Toomey

Published by Tim McNulty on .

The Toomey camp continues the past couple week's attacks on Sestak over health care reform with a new ad featuring a doctor from Sestak's Delaware County home base. Here's the transcript from the GOP campaign:

Voiceover: Congressman Joe Sestak voted for the most extreme version of a Washington health care takeover.

Dr. Maria C. DeMario: The new health care law puts the government between patients and their doctors.  It’s a prescription for disaster.  I tried to discuss safe and effective reform with my congressman, Joe Sestak, but our local group of doctors couldn’t even get an appointment.  Pat Toomey respects patients’ rights.  He has the best plan for health care.

Pat Toomey: I’m Pat Toomey and I approve this message.

DeMario, a family practitioner, is apparently a staunch Republican -- here's a 2008 Politico report quoting her at an invitation-only debate watching party among John McCain supporters in Philadelphia with Sarah Palin:

Dr. Maria Demario, a doctor from Media, leaned in to say, "Bless you. Stay true to your convictions. We are so proud of you." Palin smiled warmly and said thanks.

UPDATE: Sestak's camp says the doctor has been invited to three health care meetings and the Delaware County Medical Society (where she's the former prez) was at Sestak's last health care summit. She runs Physicians for Corbett and hosted a Toomey event this summer.
