HARRISBURG, Pa.—Vice President Joe Biden will headline a rally at Penn State next week as part of a push by Democrats to excite young voters.

Democratic National Committee regional press secretary Michael Czin says Tuesday's rally is being held in conjunction with an event being held with President Barack Obama at the University of Wisconsin.

Young voters could be key to Democratic hopefuls in Pennsylvania. Congressman Joe Sestak trails Republican Pat Toomey in the race to replace Democrat Arlen Specter in the Senate and Republican Tom Corbett leads Democrat Dan Onorato in the governor's race.

The rallies are part of ramped up efforts by the White House before the November 2 general elections.
