The biggest voter registration jump in the state -- as Chris Briem noted last week -- was in Centre County, home of Penn State. In a sign perhaps that their storied (if interrupted) rivalry lives on, here's a shot Democrats sent us of long voting lines today at Pitt, along with this message on turnout (which was verified in the P-G's voting story this afternoon):

According to reports, there is a 45 minute wait to vote on the Pitt campus, prompting the opening of a second polling location on campus. Younger voters trend heavily Democratic. The latest reports are in addition to reports of high turnout in Philadelphia.

Democrats are selling the high-turnout angle hard -- especially in Philadelphia -- while the GOP has been silent. Dan Onorato went so far as to say "Philadelphia is going to make me the governor tonight."

The Republican perspective is twofold: that it's in the interest of Democrats to do all they can to generate turnout excitement for the next couple hours, and perhaps more importantly, that they're seeing giant turnout too in traditionally Republican parts of the state.
