In the doghouse

Published by Tim McNulty on .

As I noted in my story on WPa congressional races today, there are only two members of the state's Blue Dog Democrat coalition still standing -- Jason Altmire and Tim Holden. The others in the crew (Kathy Dahlkemper, Chris Carney, Patrick Murphy) all lost.

Altmire's victory (however small) is all the more impressive since he's still a relative newcomer (joining Congress in the Dem wave of 2006), whereas Holden will be going into his 10th term.

Anyway that slaughter mirrors the story nationally for the conservative Dem group. As Hotline notes, they were the "group hit hardest by the GOP wave in the House. More than half of their 54-member caucus is gone." Twenty-two members of the group lost yesterday and six retired.
