House Dems approving budget

HARRISBURG -- State House Democrats have a new mantra regarding the state's budget for fiscal 2010-11: 100 days early! 100 days early!

The Democrat-controlled House is expected to give final approval this afternoon to the $29 billion budget proposed by Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell in February -- over the objections of House Republicans, who claim the governor wants to spend too much. They say his increase of more than $1 billion over the state's $27.8 billion budget for this year is too much of an increase, especially with state revenues lagging behind expectations.
