The Rich Fitzgerald county executive campaign officially announced today that his campaign manager is Mike Mikus, who handled the same duties for US Rep. Mark Critz in the PA-12 race last year and Jason Altmire's rematch with Melissa Hart in PA-4 in 2008. So he's an experienced guy, who can also handle an aggressive campaign if it comes to that. (County Democratic chair Jim Burn told us last week that he thinks -- hopes? -- the Democratic primary between Fitzgerald and controller Mark Patrick Flaherty will be a civil one, though.)

For those keeping score, Flaherty's campaign manager is former Cathy Baker Knoll/Tom Murphy aide Sal Sirabella, who also worked for county government back in the day.

Fitzgerald has also hired the polling and media firms used by his supporter Mike Doyle. The full announcement from his campaign is after the jump:

PITTSBURGH: Allegheny County Council President Rich Fitzgerald today announced the hiring of several key members of his campaign staff. The announcement comes less than three weeks after Fitzgerald declared his intention to run for Allegheny County Chief Executive, the county's highest elected office.

"With the election less than 4 months away, I look forward to working with my team to ensure the voters of Allegheny County have a candidate who understands the issues that are important to our region."

Mike Mikus-Campaign Manager

Mike Mikus brings more than 15 years of campaign management experience to the team including recent roles as campaign manager for Jason Altmire for Congress (2008) and Mark Critz for Congress during the PA-12 special election. Mike also has an extensive background working in organized labor. Mike is resident of South Fayette Township and a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA.

John Anzalone- Pollster, Anzalone Liszt Research

John Anzalone will serve as the campaign's pollster. Anzalone Liszt Research has done polling for Congressman Mike Doyle, Congressman Jason Altmire and former Pennsylvania State Senator Sean Logan.

Message and Media, M&M, is known locally as media consultant to Congressman Mike Doyle. M&M has served as media, direct mail and strategic consultants Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Democratic National Committee, and various members of Congress. The company also produced the TV spots that turned back Christine O'Donnell in Delaware and Linda McMahon in Connecticut.
