Fact: Exec race unsubstantive
This just in: the Allegheny County executive race is almost completely devoid of substance.
The executive race has seemed pretty sleepy so far, probably since much of the attention is on the Democratic committee endorsement instead of other issues. One need only look at the website (above) of one of the two Democratic candidates for proof.
Democrat Mark Patrick Flaherty's site has been revamped in the last couple days, with menus for the big issues facing Allegheny County: Assessments, Marcellus Shale, Jobs, Economic Development, Transit.
Problem is, all but one of them is completely blank, like the assessments page is above. Only the transit page has any text in it, which (among other things) the Flaherty camp uses to hammer opponent Rich Fitzgerald over the drink tax (which the council prez and Dan Onorato ally supported).
Sections on campaign contacts and events are also empty, though the "About Mark" biography page is full, as is the one on his endorsements. (We've mentioned before how much energy the Dems have put into them this year.)
(UPDATE: The campaign updated the site -- either with text or "Coming Soon" notes -- shortly after we posted this.)
Flaherty isn't alone in this camp: GOP exec candidates Patti Weaver and Chuck McCullough don't have much of a web presence either. Those for D. Raja and Fitzgerald are more active.
