Daily Santorum 3/9/11

Published by Daniel Malloy on .

WWRRD? It's almost as potent as WWJD in Republican primary circles, and, let's be serious, how many Cold Wars did Jesus end? Penn Hills' own Rick Santorum pulled out the Ronald Reagan card Tuesday in a radio interview when discussing how the Obama administration should deal with Libya. As the Des Moines Register reports

“Ronald Reagan bombed Libya,” Santorum told Mickelson. “If you want to be Reagan-esque, it seems the path is pretty clear here.”

“We’re either going to be on the side of (Qaddafi) or we’re going to be on the side of the folks who are trying to overturn him,” he said. “These folks could be problematic. I’m not saying we’re going to see a pro-Western democracy come out of this group that’s in the streets. Maybe we will. Maybe we won’t.”

Santorum was swinging through Iowa on Tuesday, speaking to Republican groups as well as the Christian Broadcasting Network, to which Santorum boasted that he has "street cred" with evangelicals for his various fights for their causes over the years with which readers of this blog are no doubt familiar. The Hill pronounced Santorum's comment that "it's one thing to get up and give your social-conservative speech and tell people what you believe in. It's another thing to go out and live it and lead it," as perhaps a veiled shot at Newt Gingrich, but it could apply to any number of his potential rivals.

The Schedule: Santorum has no public events today. He's in South Carolina tomorrow.
