Daily Santorum, 3/18/11

Not much happening this summery Friday so we'll go back to Jim O'Toole's Santorum story for this nugget at the end, in which he responds to a query on his low poll numbers:

Mr. Santorum, whose name barely registers in the early pre-caucus polling, said it was too early to handicap the field but said his chances might be more robust than some surveys suggest.

He pointed out that he had been to each of the three early states roughly a dozen times.

"I don't think you'll find anyone else near those numbers, near those proportions," he said. "[Some other candidates] have spent time in one state or another, as opposed to all three. ... My feeling is you don't do this just to get yourself in the game, you do this to see if you can appeal broadly across the party and broadly across America."
