NRCC gas robocalls hit Critz

Published by Daniel Malloy on .

Hardly a day goes by without the NRCC filling up the Early Returns inbox with some attack on Johnstown Democrat Mark Critz (a lot of effort for a fella who probably won't have a district next year, dontcha think?) and now the national GOP is shelling out for robocalls to blame the freshman for your high gas prices. PoliticsPA points out that this might be a tough box to put Critz in because of his cheerleading for the Marcellus Shale and stance against cap-and-trade during his campaign.

Also, the ad doesn't specifically say what Critz has supported that would cause gas prices to rise, but it would be possible to point to his vote to end tax breaks for oil companies -- which Senate Republicans have called a "minivan tax" because it would increase oil companies' cost of doing business and thus force them to raise prices. The call script is below the jump, via PoliticsPA.

I’m calling from the National Republican Congressional Committee 320 First Street SE, Washington, DC  20003, 202.479.7000 with an important recorded message about gas prices.

Feeling the pain at the pump every time you fill up your tank? Well, you should know that your Congressman, Mark Critz, is supporting policies that could raise gas prices even more. Critz is so detached from reality that while families in Pennsylvania are forced to pay more than $3.50 a gallon, Critz has been in Washington supporting big-government policies that lead to higher gas prices and restrain the production of American-made energy.

Call Critz today at 202-225-2065 and tell him you’re paying too much at the pump. This call was paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee and was not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.  202.479.7000.
