Thompson ad evokes the Mtn Fiddler

Published by Tim McNulty on .

OK, this is more like it. After a year in West Virginia marked by two of the worst ads of the year -- "hicky" actors in one and Joe Manchin shooting the cap'n'trade bill in the other -- Rick Thompson has one out where's the Dem gubernatorial candidate's singing and playing guitar, well.

That's good karma in the land of the Mountain Fiddler, aka Robert Byrd.

UPDATE: WVa ads remain awesome. Another Dem, state Treasurer John Purdue, has a new one saying "His friend Robert Byrd used to call him 'Big John.' Six foot six and tough as nails, he's a big man with big ideas. He's big. Real big. A big man with big ideas. Big. John. Purdue. A leader. A family man. Fearless."

OK, Duke, we get the picture. Anyway see for yourself:
