Roll Call: CR, Obamacare, PP

Published by Daniel Malloy on .

The Senate and House eached banged out a trio of interesting votes today (that I previewed this morning). First, the six-month budget deal, then a couple of show votes on defunding the health care reform bill and Planned Parenthood. The latter two were guaranteed as part of the budget agreement so vulnerable Senate Democrats would have to take the votes and then be subjected to the resulting campaign ads next year about wanting to kill babies and such.

Hereforth is how the votes went down, and how the Western PA delegation voted. A couple of notable moves: Rep. Mark Critz votes to defund Planned Parenthood, one of just 10 Democrats to support it and a rare split in his voting record from fellow conservative Dem Jason Altmire. And Sen. Pat Toomey was dissatisfied with the budget compromise, becoming one of 15 Republicans to vote against it. Through a spokeswoman, Toomey said: "Our nation's fiscal imbalance has reached very dangerous levels. In my view, this bill did not adequately change the path that we're on."

House budget deal: Passed 260 (179 R's, 81 D's) to 167 (59 R's, 108 D's). Yeas: Reps. Jason Altmire, D-McCandless; Mark Critz, D-Johnstown; Mike Kelly, R-Butler; Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair; Bill Shuster, R-Blair; Glenn Thompson, R-Centre. Nays: Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills.

Senate budget deal: Passed 81 (48 D's, 32 R's, 1 I) to 19 (3 D's, 15 R's, 1 I). Yea: Sen. Bob Casey (D). Nay: Sen. Pat Toomey (R).

House defunding "Obamacare": Passed 240 (237 R's, 3 D's) to 185 (all D's). Yeas: Kelly, Murphy, Shuster, Thompson. Nays: Altmire, Critz, Doyle.

Senate defunding "Obamacare": Failed 47 (all R's) to 53 (51 D's, 2 I's). Yea: Toomey. Nay: Casey.

House defunding Planned Parenthood: Passed 241 (231 R's, 10 D's) to 185 (178 D's 7 R's). Yeas: Critz, Kelly, Murphy, Shuster, Thompson. Nays: Altmire, Doyle.

Senate defunding Planned Parenthood: Failed 42 (all R's) to 58 (51 D's, 5 R's, 2 I's). Yea: Toomey. Nay: Casey.
