Critz: $151K on hand

Published by Daniel Malloy on .

Rep. Mark Critz, D-Johnstown, reported raising $180,783 in the first quarter of this year and has $151,860 in the bank, according to a news release. This is comparable with Rep. Jason Altmire -- slightly ahead in the cash on hand department --  notable achievement considering that Critz is only a freshman, and that the two could meet in a redrawn district's Democratic primary next year. Critz credits his "independence" for all the money he's getting. He broke ranks with Dems just yesterday to vote to defund Planned Parenthood.

“When I first went to Congress, I promised to be an independent voice for Western Pennsylvania and that’s exactly what I am doing in Congress,” Critz said in the release.  “I am grateful for the outpouring of support I am receiving from Republicans and Democrats alike.”
